Wish your YouTube videos had more than a handful of views? Want to get more from your video marketing efforts? Me too! That is why I am so excited about sharing James Wedmore’s highly informative and entertaining video: 5 Steps to More Views on YouTube.
Honestly, these are easiest and hottest tips I’ve seen on how to gain great marketing results with YouTube videos. Following Jame’s 5 simple steps will revitalize your existing videos and ensure your future videos success. My favorite is Step #3 that reveals how to become one of the 1% who have put their video on SEO steroids!
Watch the video then read on to get 13 bonus tips I learned when I applied the power steps to my How to Set Up RSS Graffiti: Auto Publish Posts to a Facebook Business Fan Page video.
Step 1: Target Keywords
TIP – My video’s title is full of keywords and uses them in a combination to produce high search results. I got my title by thinking about how I what I would type in to search for instructions on using RSS Graffiti.
TIP – Use YouTube’s Ads Keyword Tool to target highly searched keywords for your video’s topic.
TIP – Use a combination of words to create a keyword phrase like: More Views on YouTube.
TIP – Use the SEO keyword trilogy: Title, Description, Tags to increase your rank in YouTube and Google search results.
Step 3: Add a Call to Action
Call-to-Action Overlay
TIP – Some people find banner ads annoying and distracting. Best used when directing a viewer to your site is your main goal.
Put your domain in the description
TIP – Including a link to your website, use your full URL (website address) http://www.your website.com, in the video description protects your brand and ensures viewers who find your video on auto blogging or scraper sites will be able to connect with you.
Add Annotations:
TIP – Add Click Here to the text to clearly show that the annotation is a link.
Step 3: Add a Transcript
This step is a double winner!
Adding your transcript increases your video SEO because YouTube indexes every word when converting your transcript into captions that expand your video’s audience.
This is one of my favorite strategies, why because 99% of video marketers simply fail to do it! Most people will never upload a transcript, and YouTube is forced to determine what a video’s topic is based solely on the video’s headline and description. You’ll have the upper hand with a complete transcript of your entire video…YouTube will now index every single word of your transcript (your video’s dialog) and incorporate it into its search algorithms. You’ve just put your video SEO (search engine optimization) on steroids! – James
TIP – Create a script for your video that will serve as the base for your transcript. Rehearse it a few times and you will sound “natural” without the ums and ahs pauses when you record your video. You may not record the script word for word but now you have the base that you can easily edit for your transcript!
TIP – Prepare your transcript in a text doc and double space between sentences to avoid line breaks.
TIP – Include a link to your website in the transcript at the end of the video.
Step 4: Create Backlinks and Step 5: Promote Your Video
TIP – Create backlinks and promote your video at the same time by sharing the link on your social media networks: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
TIP – Post the video on your blog and include the link. Bonus points for your RSS via email subscribers as video doesn’t show up in the subscriber’s email but a link will.
TIP – Add call to action every time you promote your video with friends and fans that asks them to share the video.
