The Facebook Timeline is here! Months after Facebook’s initial Timeline announcement the Timeline is finally available to everyone.
Timeline allows you to turn your Facebook profile into a virtual scrapbook. Alongside your likes, friends and list of places you’ve visited, Facebook is giving you an interactive timeline, onto which you can post the story of your life. Mike Wise, CBS News

Why wait for the notification to pop up on your screen? Here is how to change your profile to the new Facebook Timeline today:
Login into your Facebook account and then follow this link: http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline. To upgrade your profile to Timeline click the Get Timeline button. To learn more about the major new components of Timeline scroll the page or click the buttons.
Your Cover: Choose one of your album photos or upload a new one for this large banner image. The cover photo must be at least 720 pixels wide to fill the space. The actual image size is 851 x 315 pixels. After you have selected a photo you can click on it to make adjustments.
Your Stories: Feature your favorite stories by clicking the Star to make them widescreen. You decide which stories appear on your Timeline. Click the pencil to edit, hide or remove stories.
Your Apps: Facebook’s new social apps make it easy to share the things you love with your friends. Use the Spotify app to put the music you are listening to on your timeline so friends can listen along.
Once you have your Timeline installed click the new Activity Log button to review the posts on your Timeline. All your previous posts will display in a list that you can quickly scroll through and delete or hide posts you don’t want to appear on your Timeline.
Important Note: Once you have upgraded to Timeline you cannot roll back to the old profile style. Facebook will be replacing the old profile style with the Timeline for all users as soon as the end of December.
Seven Days to Public
Once you upgrade to Timeline you will have seven private days to review and put your Timeline in order. No will be able to see your timeline until the end of the seven-day review period at which point it will go “live” and become public.
Timeline is also available on Android devices as well as the mobile version of Facebook – m.facebook.com.

i can’t return it back
so would you mind telling my how can i return it back ??
Sorry that the new Timeline isn’t to your liking, but there is no way back and everyone else will soon be joining you. Internet buzz says that everyone will have it as soon as the end of December. I will add a warning to the article that there is no rolling back, but again soon Facebook will change everyone to the Timeline.
Thanks for this great post Sue :). I have found the new profile to be quite awesome for the most part.
i can’t get timeline till now …. :p
there is no ‘get timeline’ button on page introducing timeline
I just checked the link: http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline and the button was there. Please try again. Let me know if you are still having problems and we can figure it out together.
there is no get timeline button…help me out
Did you follow the link listed in the first slide? http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline I just checked the link and I found a “get timeline button” on that page. Is it is green and on the bottom right. Hope this helps.
No GET TIMELINE BUTTON FOR ME STILL!
Many people have not received this message on their profile page and are still using the old profile style. If you are one of those people who haven’t received a link and want to update you will have to follow the link in the first slide as explained above.
I want the new timeline but it is not showing me a button to push that says get timeline now.
Billie Jo – you are right. I just checked the link and the http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline“ the green “get timeline button” on that page has been changed to “login”. Have you tried selecting the login button? I already have the Timeline so I can’t test it to see where that would take me if I didn’t have the Timeline. Also, I have submitted a ticket to Facebook regarding the loss of the button.
Have you had an active Facebook account for 30 days? That is a requirement. Here is the forum page where I learn that from: I can’t get timeline on my profile. The… You should receive the notice in your profile.
Other suggestions from the thread include:
“For those who have older accounts and are trying to get timeline: you can try watching a “socialcam” video — several people have gotten timeline that way (even though they didn’t want it). Or visit the Pinterest page. Or vote for American Idol via Facebook. Or download “Words with Friends”. These are all things that others did which resulted in them getting timeline.”
Hope this helps, and will update the post as I know more.
