For weeks now the internet has been filled with buzz about Google Plus and there is a good reason! Google+ is everything you wished Facebook and Twitter could be.
To quote Rick of Rick’s Tips recent Google Plus comment:
The concept of Social Media is great…it’s just that FB and Twitter are such poor platforms. Google+ gets my vote to replace them both. In 10 months they will be roughly as relevant as 8-track tapes and 5.25″ floppies.
Google+ is now open to all! I’d love to connect add me to your circle Sue at Google+. You can connect with Rick too Rick at Google+.
What’s to Like About Google Plus
Circles
Google+ makes it easy to separate and organize your friends, family, business contacts, etc. into groups called Circles. In fact connections are made when you place a person in a Circle.
What’s to love about Circles is only people in a specific Circle can see the updates you post in that circle.
Sharing
The simplicity of sharing within Circles allows easy separation between business and friends. I can share social media updates with my business contacts and barbeque photos with my family and friends.
Profiles
Complete your Google+ Profile. Search your name on Google and you will find that your Google+ profile has created a great “business card” complete with your photo, Google+ link, current employment/occupation, a brief introduction and your top three links if you have chosen.
Of course if you would rather not have the free advertizing you can always adjust your privacy settings on these items.
Privacy
Google+ privacy settings are built in to the areas where you share or edit information and are clearly marked. No searching or changing screens to adjust the privacy element of your profile or a post.
Bonus G+ Benefits
If that isn’t enough to get you interested in Google+ add the following:
No FarmVille! No games invading your news feed.
No “Can I have all your personal info, your friends and their little dogs too” apps!
Look for a series of tutorials to come on Google+. See you in my Social Media 101 circle and on our Facebook Page!
