Rick’s Tip: How to Post to Your Facebook Business Fan Page as Yourself

Updated February 2013 for the Facebook Timeline Page

My favorite update to Facebook Fan Pages is the option to post my Facebook business fan page as myself, Rick Bean. In the past I could only post to my fan page as my business, now I can add my own personal voice when posting to any page I am an admin of. I could even switch identities and comment on my personal post as my page. Image the possibilities, and then don’t abuse it!

Note: To use this option you must first like your page as yourself.

With this new update you can how in less time than it take to add cream to your cup of coffee. Facebook now tells you who you are posting as and provides a link to switch identities right below the blue menu bar located on the top of your page. One quick click to make the change.

Bonus Tip: How to Use the Quick Page Settings Access Dropdown to Use Facebook as Your Page

Make this choice when you want to post on your page as your page and want to post on other pages as your page. Follow the simple directions below to switch back and forth.

1. Access the Quick Page Settings Dropdown by clicking the gear in the far left in the blue menu bar on the top of any page.
2. Under the option Use Facebook as: choose the page you would like to post as. (If you have chosen a page the option to post as yourself will be in the list.)

3. Making a selection will jump to the page Timeline. If you select yourself then you will jump to your personal Timeline.
4. Click on the bold Facebook text located in the far right in the top blue menu bar to access your page timeline which features all the pages you have liked as your page. Return to your Page’s timeline by clicking the link next to your page icon in the top right of the top menu bar.
